Winter flowers

While listing the plants in flower on St Andrew's Day I missed this one, rather off the beaten track.

Fatsia japonica, the so-called False Castor Oil Plant, is a hardy shrub that is more often grown as a house plant, but it does well outside and will tolerate quite a bit of shade. A native of Japan, it makes a fairly large spreading shrub of rather exotic appearance. It flowers in early winter and sometimes produces black fruits. It's a member of the ivy family, Araliaceae.
