Remembering!!

I did not take this photograph it was taken from a helicopter which was filming the closing sequences for the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me".
The photograph shows HMS Fearless closing with the Greek freighter "Nostros Vassos Athene" which was on fire, three separate fires in fact, engine room, galley and captains cabin, the crew had abandoned ship.
When the photograph was taken I was already onboard the freighter firefighting, as a member of 'Chalk One' I was airlifted by helo onboard. After a day's hard work the fires were out and the among the cargo were found illegal weapons and Terry's chocolates.
A couple of years later we received our 'Salvage Awards', it remains today the highest salvage award ever made to an RN warship.
