Thoughts On Ice

I went to see the new documentary Antarctica: A Year On Ice, alone. It is a very fine film by any standard, but for me, it was thrilling. It's about the experience of support workers there --not the scientists --mostly located the American and Kiwi facilities. I could be one of those workers in the near future, if I am deployed as a painter. I'm already under contract, on "alternate" status.

As the film ended, I spotted a young couple I know who met on The Ice. Conversation with them made the evening much more interesting.

The next morning I learned that a 40 year old controls tech had died at the South Pole Station, apparently of natural causes. Let the mystery writing begin!
