New computer
I have been getting increasingly frustrated with my PC for some time. One of my dual monitors had packed up and I wasn't happy with the colour rendition which had become rather washed out.
I have a Macbook which initially I did not like but as I have learnt how to drive it I have come to like it. In particular I like the way it doesn't slow down with time unlike Windows. I much prefer using a desktop computer so when I saw this new Retina iMac about 4 weeks ago I decided that was the way to go so I ordered one.
It has taken 4 weeks to arrive from China (!) but was well worth the wait as it is gorgeous. I have been moving my data over and there is very little that I can't do that I could do with Windows. The few Windows-only programs that I use run very happily on the Mac using Parallels.
The screen has to be seen to be believed. It is unbelievably sharp with great colour accuracy and contrast. Looking back at some of my old Lightroom catalogues show amazing detail in photos that I have previously not seen. It is said to be ideal for photo-editing and at the price of a high definition monitor alone.
Did I mention the speed? It is lightning fast and almost silent.
Another enormous benefit is the lack of cables as it is self-contained.
The screen shows our Christmas card that I have designed in the included app 'Pages' I usually do it in Corel Draw but Pages is just right for it.
Jane and I rather liked the frog on the desktop looking round the edge
Anyone want a high-spec but clapped out Windows PC?
