'Christmas at Standen'

We had such a lovely day...went to visit Standen National Trust....which is now decorated for Christmas. Although I don't put my own tree up until nearer Christmas I do like to see what the grand old houses are looking like. It was very exciting..the stewards told us that they had really 'gone for it' this year! Each room looked gorgeous..

I last Blipped this Nat.Trust house on the 27th April when the Tulips were out. The gardeners were just finishing off planting another 1,500 Tulips for next Spring...it's going to be lovely. They are also going to be undergoing some changes which sound very exciting.

It was quite challenging in some of the rooms as they have closed curtains, lots of fake candles to create a true Christmas in 1925.....consequently some of the rooms were very dark. The sitting room was so atmospheric it made my hair stand on end. I will post a photo on later this month..as we are going back for another visit in a couple of weeks. You are not allowed to use flash in these houses!
On the left of the collage the beautiful staircase...the tree was huge, . Top right..the Drawing Room, bottom right the dining room....all laid for Christmas dinner. The food looked real! Enjoy!
