London Alight

An impulse shot not far from the Covent Garden tube station, in the evening after a lovely Turkish dinner nearby with our friend Liz (of London and visits to Paris).

Back in London from Canterbury we slept a bit late, and in the afternoon returned to the National Gallery, mainly for a fabulous exhibition on the late works of Rembrandt. Some ninety pieces--paintings, drawings and etchings--anchored by the Gallery's own works (as its shows usually are), but supplemented by an impressive majority of things from elsewhere (including inevitably all the works on paper).

The loan which I most enjoyed seeing was this, "Jacob Blessing the Sons of Joseph"--a large painting from the old masters gallery in Kassel, Germany, which I had seen there decades ago (the 1970s?) and which I vividly remembered.
