That's better

Sally was ill today (nothing serious just utterly exhausted) so I had a rather nice enforced day off.

While she put all her Match Attax cards in the album and gave me a full run-down of players' stats, I did a Proper Clean and Tidy of the kitchen. Moved furniture, washed shelves and walls, tidied cupboards and drawers, tackled the teetering piles of paper, and put my lovely new decorations up. Great big paper snowflakes hanging from the ceiling and at the windows, lots of hessian bunting, cardboard and paper decorations and little houses with tea lights in. I love it. It looks and smells like Christmas.

The dark red sitting room is full of candles, flowers, fire, furry blankets, twinkly lights, daft children, ridiculous cat, Advent Calendars, Art projects, bits and bobs and family stuff. I did however manage to get rid of three footballs, a unicycle, roller skates, beam and gym mat, odd socks, pairs of trainers and a tennis racket, so that when People come round tomorrow it looks a bit less like the Peckham Pulse Soft Play.

Back to school and work tomorrow. Sal's rested and has had a big healing dose of TLC. I'm feeling on top of things and have had a healing glass of whiskey.

It's been a good day.
