Aftermath
Yesterday's rainstorm and horrible winds left a lot of damage on the island. There are trees down everywhere - giant ones. Phone wires are down, poles caught fire because of lightning. There is yellow caution tape in about 5 different places from any persons house. Tons of people don't have any power and may not be getting it back for a few days. And the rain is still coming...
My dad repaired our fence today because there was a pretty long break in the heavy rain and wind, I'm hoping it doesn't get knocked down again if the weather worsens. The fence is very fragile.
This is a picture of a tree on a residential street. There are two cars crushed underneath it.
This is another picture of a tree that collapsed in front of one of our Elementary schools. It brought the sidewalk up with it and these kids were climbing all over it. There was a news team standing by to show the rest of our area.
This is a picture from my aunt's town a few minutes away. The tree went right through the roof of this family's garage and landed on top of their car in there and the one in the driveway. As you can see, they already started chopping the tree up into pieces. This photo was taken on my phone, hence the poor quality.
...there won't be a shortage of firewood next winter. A lot of people are going to need it now without power for heat. I hope this mess gets cleaned up soon.
