Missed The Boat

December 6th is the official birthday of our Sint Nick, but we Dutch traditionally celebrate it on the 5th with a lot of gifts for all the kids.

On the 6th Sint Nick returns home to his Castle in Spain to relax and enjoy his day after touring our country for a few weeks with an overloaded agenda visiting everyone's home, television program and every other obligation he and his loyal Pete's have full filled.

Today also marks the day that the entire Dutch population starts redecorating / transforming their home into a Xmas wonderland.

The funny thing is.... As soon as St Nicks boat arrives I always see a lot of Pete's and St NIcks - as he's an old man he has numerous doubles who resemble him pretty much to help him out - but I never see any of them leave...

I guess this one literally missed the boat and had to find it's own way back by train ;-)
