Festive and fruity

It's been a cold and drizzly day, so we were disinclined to go anywhere. I wrote up the minutes of yesterday's meeting, and a press release. I found a jar of last year's mincemeat in the larder, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to make mince pies; meanwhile, a pot of pork braised with leeks simmered very slowly on top of the woodburner. I tried a new recipe for bread using different flour which took all day to rise, but eventually turned out an acceptable loaf. Then dinner, and mince pies with coffee by the fire.

Today's December challenge word is small and these are, so that's two birds with one stone!
