Birthday Bridge

It was the Clifton suspension bridges 150th birthday today. The City celebrated with fireworks attended by thousands in true Bristol fashion.

Jack and I cycled over and got a great viewing spot on Bridge Valley Road. It was packed and we had fun cutting through the stationary traffic on the way home.

As good as the fireworks were, the minutes silence at the beginning punctuated at the start and finish by two solitary fire works moved me more than I was anticipating. Amongst many other suicides from the bridge, this last week a mother and her new born baby fell which was especially sad. Everyone respected the moments silence tonight. It's quite a powerful experience being in such large numbers in silence.
