The Gate International Church, Dundee
Very cold, with sleet and threatening snow flurries.
At church this morning, our Pastor was away, partly celebrating his 60th Birthday and partly his Mother-in-Law's 90th Birthday. My wife led the service and preached a sermon about hope in a hurting world, which is one of the main themes of the Advent season.
Afterwards, we went down to our son's church to meet the family prior to all of us going out for Lunch. This church is known as the Gate International Church. They took over the building from a Church of Scotland congregation a number of years ago and they have a considerable amount of space for the hundreds who attend and the children and youth ministries they provide. They recently had the towering steeple repaired, fortunately with considerable grant aid. Although the photo makes it look as if the steeple is leaning over, I can assure you that it is straight as a die.
The church is involved in many different kinds of work to reach out to drug addicts, lonely people and the many students who come to study at the University. My son and his whole family are involved in many aspects of the church and we are pleased that they are committed to such an active church.
