Standing Hallelujah
Eurostar to London, visiting our friends for a long weekend and nice to be back in an area where we lived some time at the turn of the millennium. The husband is singing in a choir and had a concert this evening. So we were able to attend the performance of Händel's Messiah. Amazing that such a piece was already composed more than 250 years ago (in 1741). We also learned about the custom of standing for the 'Hallelujah', going back to the belief that King George II did so at the London premiere (dozed off for a moment ?), then obliging by protocol all people to stand up.
What else? Easy journey, blue sky, a new and clean tube wagon, a lovely welcome, drinks and a nice dinner. Just perfect!
