Remembrance

This ruby red Christmas ornament has been in our family as long as I can remember and I turned 50 this year. I remember there being blue and green ones on our tree each year too.

My kids happily help decorate the tree each year and although the ornament is just a simple type of plastic and not fragile glass I always make sure I'm the one to hang it up.

Combined with the smell of the real tree, every time I look at it, watching the light reflect off its now mottling interior, I am taken back in time to my childhood and Christmases past.
