Mellon Square

Pittsburgh's teeny tiny Central Park, Mellon Square is the grass and sculpture topped roof of a parking deck, and home to most of the city's pigeons.
The Mellons,of course, were BIG money in the city. Truman Capote tells of a sumptuous meal aboard a very large yacht in the south of France at which one young socialite, impressed by the quality of the fruit, asked, 'Where are the melons from?' To which she got the answer, 'Pittsburgh.'
