Short stay at home
Having to back blip some of these as the last week has been a bit of a blur.
Still in amazement of Wilf's arrival we just kept saying "I can't believe it". We got the he birth, I didn't need to be induced and we wouldn't change anything.
I was a bit worried about W's breathing overnight so When the midwife popped over in the morning and I told her what I was thinking I was disappointed to see she shared my concerns. He was bright and happy but breathing at 120 rpm and she decided to send us to the hospital for checks
I can say now that he's absolutely fine but when we came in with that breathing rate and a temperature, they wrote on his notes suspected sepsis meningitis which was scary. Numerous blood tests, a lumbar puncture and a chest X-ray later they decided to admit him to neonatal and start antibiotics. They were pretty sure he was too well for neonatal but they didn't want him to be on the children's ward with all the bugs and as he was born at home they didn't want us on the maternity ward.
Even though I was gutted our little bubble of bliss had been burst and we were looking at a stay in hospital, I'm glad we were that as over the course of the day W started to get really sleepy and I couldn't wake him for feeds.
All a bit worrying but as I say, writing this a few days later, he's absolutely fine now.
