Evolution?
If there was any doubt that the political system in Scotland was on another tangent from the rUK this Scottish Church attacking the mainstream medias darling Nigel Farage makes it clear.
Anyway is this claim of evolution of Hitler > Mosely > Griffin > Farage is it ridiculous or real?
Adolf Hitler is well known to have influenced Sir Edward Mosely and his facist blackshirts and with support of the Daily Mail and the members of the Lords & Commons set up the 50,000 strong British Union of Fascists (BUF). The onset of the 2nd World War destroyed the BUF and their support structure. In 1960 the British National Party (1960-7) was formed and was openly pro-nazi. One senior leader (John Tyndall) after the collapse in 1967 then set up the 'whites only' National Front in the 70's before leaving and setting up the current British National Party in 1982. Tyndall was jailed in the 80's for racial hatred but still held on until 1999 when Nick Griffin ousted him and ushered in a era to remove the "careless extremist". Griffin used this far more polished and slightly eloquent voice to gain influence but his class meant it was stuck to the working class mainly and had no support from the right wing media. UKIP had been formed back in 1993 and in late 2010 worked his way to the top and employed the same tactics as Griffin in glossing over the nastiness. Unlike Griffin but like Mosely UKIP received the support of the powerful upper-classes and their right-wing media (hello to the formerly facist supporting Daily Mail once again) their rise has been constant - at least in certain part of England.
Farage may not be as quite as extreme as the three others or follow in the linage from the BUP but he enjoys the support of the the upper-echelons of society as Mosley did for his nasty brand of hate politics.
