Fog continues...
...to paralyze the airport, play havoc with internet and TV reception (most of us are on satellite services) and cause ice and black ice on the roads. Some of us on steep roads get used to nodding good morning to our neighbors through the windshield as we slide by sideways...until the tires find purchase and we're on our way in the proper orientation...front end forward, shiny part on top and rubber on the bottom.
Meanwhile, we walk in the woods...boots clad with short spikes to grip the icy slopes. Scritch-scratching our way toward clearings, we then swoosh-swoosh through the frozen grass. Joining the deer, we spy bits of greenery and the occasional leftover berries...the deer to eat and for us, the enjoyment of color amidst the grey blanket around us.
The trees march onward into the mist and I sigh because I can't catch up to them as they disappear.
