Mow Cop Castle, nr. Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.

A National Trust property built as a summer house by Randle Wilbraham in 1754. The structure is perched on a 65 foot high rock which is 1,020 feet above sea level. This folly of a ruined castle can be seen across most of the Cheshire/Staffordshire plain. I think the interpretation of the name " Mow Cop " is derived from the Anglo-Saxon meaning "heap hill head"
