Witch's Butter
I went off trail to blip this mushroom at Lafayette Reservoir, and when I got home and changed my clothing I found a tick on my skin. Fortunately, it hadn't had time to attach itself, but it gave me the creeps nevertheless.
Back to the mushroom . . . It is indeed called Witch's Butter, aka Tremella mesenterica. It grows on wood decaying fungi, which can also be seen in this photo. This one is about one inch by one and a half inches.
