Spirit of the Jaguar
I've had a great day! While everyone else was at work, at school or running round the shops madly doing Christmas shopping, I was in another world.
My last visit of the year to Chester Zoo. It was quite a big cat day. The tigers were very photogenic and the lions were exceptionally vocal, but it had to be the jaguar for my blip. Although this shot isn't perfect - there's something on the glass - I love it, as I feel it's caught something of a jaguar's character. Something's caught her eye on the roof, probably a bird....just look at the concentration on her face.
I never expect to see certain animals, so was rather surprised that this beautiful jaguar was just lazing about on a rock right next to the viewing window. They usually saunter past and then you never see them again, or you just never see them. She's one of two - Sofia and Napo. There's also a black one called Goshi.
The title of my blip is named after their enclosure.
I was also quite taken with the Golden Dart frogs and the Komodo Dragons and their offspring.
I have an animal adoption bought for me each year by my other half and his sister. My zoo animal is the Red Panda. They are rather awkward critters to photograph. They're either completely curled up asleep in the trees and you can't see their faces, or they having a good old run around!! Exactly as they were doing today.
