Descendants / cousins
Following recent comments I further a little photographic history.
Leitz and Minolta had quite an extensive collaboration in the 1970’s, one result being the Leica CL manufactured from 1973 to 1976. This camera had a mechanical shutter and viewfinder frame lines for 40, 50, and 90 mm lenses.- independently, Minolta introduced the CLE in 1980, adding Aperture-priority AE and a frame lines for 28-40-90mm. It was available as a set with these three lens, it seems strange to see a lens marked M-Rokkor made by Leitz. My long term favourite small camera.
Until Leica produced the Leica M7 in 2001, the CLE held the distinction of being the most technologically advanced Leica M mount camera that existed (a 21-year record).
Later Minolta absorbed Konica and then both taken over by Sony - so I figure the digital Alpha 7r has some pedigree. With adapters (like Novoflex ) you can fit almost any 35mm camera lens ever made.
