A whole suburb gone.....

I took a blip the other day of some overgrown empty sections where EQ damaged homes had been demolished and it showed how desolate some areas of Christchurch are looking...

Today I was driving thru Burwood near the river and I saw that a lot of work has been done by CERA ( Govt dept) in this red zoned area. The houses are gone and the land tidied up , grass mown etc.

I am not sure what the area is going to be eventually , it can never be built on again , but maybe just park land. It is still fenced off at the moment.
