The weather bomb

Weather Bomb noun 1. Also known as Explosive Cyclogenesis. A type of extratropical cyclone characterized by a low pressure system in which the central barometric pressure drops at least 24 millibars in 24 hours, which can produce hurricane-force winds with very heavy rainfall or snow.

That's the dictionary definition; the reality is a spin cycle in freezing water followed by a thorough airing in a gale-force wind. As a result everything is hunkered down: the pigs have spent the last two days asleep in a mound of fresh straw and the hens are strangely subdued and barely laying. Only the sheep are oblivious to the storm but then Welsh mountain sheep are a hardy bunch...

Oh, and snow is being forecast for the weekend. I guess that's the end of autumn then?
