Corfe Castle: the shadow is lifted
Corfe has a grocery once more.
Clealls of Corfe, Corfe Castle's last remaining grocery, closed its doors earlier this year; see my February blip.
A dull grey late afternoon sky casts a dull grey late afternoon light on the exterior of the new "Corfe Castle Village Stores", but inside the lights are burning once more.
A new tenant and a new name: the Village Stores has now been in operation for three or four months. The family name "Clealls", associated with this building for over a century, has been superceded by a more useful business name.
Who would even think of buying an ice cream - even if it is a Purbeck ice cream - on a day such as this? (Ten out of ten for effort, though.)
