Irish Tradition

My family is very proud of our Irish heritage and we adopted the tradition of lighting a candle and putting it in the window. The Irish did this because when the Penal laws were enforced, the Irish Catholics lost many of their religious freedoms. They lit these candles in the window so that persecuted priests knew they could celebrate mass with the families.
