Mackerel sky

The day had been grey and damp, like so many lately, and other than going to the gym in the morning, I spent most of it at home working on the computer, putting together calendars I send to family members using my photographs. Late afternoon I happened to look out the window and noticed that the sky was clearing somewhat, so I decided to drive down to the river and go for a walk. As I was leaving the house I snapped this shot of the mackerel sky above the roof tops, just in case it disappeared before I got down to the river, and it was a good job I did, as in the short time it took me to drive down to the river, the sky was back to its almost uniform grey, other than a little brightness in the direction of the setting sun.
