Christmas Lights

My heart ruled my head yesterday and I packed my full winter walking gear, borrowing Rich’s light weight axe as a kind of justification for a trip out on my knees. I was going to the Lakes to walk in the snow.

At midnight, I turned off my alarm after unsuccessfully trying to rationalise my irrationality.

I went on my bike and had a lovely, if a little scarily icy, ride. Rich had a great outing on the moors in the snow with Little Dog.

After not getting my camera out so far and giving it a little thought, I concluded I would do my Christmas shopping in Leeds rather than online and went off, armed with my camera.

I met this lady at the bus stop as I was coming out of the train station. I asked her if her hat lit up. It wasn’t until I had chance to inspect them that I realised they weren’t Christmas lights at all! That was a surprise. We had a giggle and she told me I was a nutter (fair) and no-one had ever asked for her photo in town before.

If you’re struck by the hat, get yourself to Dewsbury market!

I also met another lovely young lady from Nigeria who was studying molecular science in Leeds with her friend. Her beautifully coloured scarf caught my eye.

My people photo count in one outing has doubled in a week but more than that, I felt pleased to have made a little connection with a couple of people that I would never normally have struck up a conversation with.

Note to self: ask people’s names. But I’m learning.
