Looking up!
Happy 12 13 14!
One of the things I love about living near historic towns are the lovely old buildings. And one of things that I love about old buildings are the cornices. Thankfully, when architects are designing their new buildings to fit with the old buildings, they remember the all important detail of the cornices.
This building was built around 1870, and has had several "facelifts". Obviously the windows are new and some of the brick work has been redone. But the cornices below the roof line have been lovingly restored.
I had considered taking this shot at more of an oblique angle, but then decided to make it as symmetrical as I could. And on a crowded street, I drew quite a lot of looks. What was really funny is that I was on my knees absorbed in taking this shot looking up, and some guy was walking along talking on his cell phone and literally walked right on the top of me. It was really funny, and I was laughing as hard as the people around me. He didn't seem to see the humor, grabbed his phone off the curb, and stomped on his way talking on his cell phone again.
Later, when J and I stopped to have a glass of wine at one of our favorite little places, one of the on-lookers bought me another glass of wine for being such a good sport. He and his lady joined us and we laughed about it all over again.
The weather report says that tomorrow it is supposed to snow so J and I are heading off to church tonight instead.
Have a wonderful Sunday! And enjoy the Christmas season!
