Waitakere Dam

There was a lot of water at Waitakere and not all was in the reservoir. It is a wonderful area to the west of Auckland and a favourite for long distance commuters with the Sir Edmund Hillary Trail running through the middle of it. We opted , however, for a shorter route through the Waitakere Ranges to the dam as it was our dampest day so far in New Zealand.
