Beautiful morning in Ripponden
St Bartholomew’s is a Church of England church in the village of Ripponden, West Yorkshire, on the edge of the Pennines, and boasts both beautiful scenery and a vibrant community.
five hundred years ago the residents of Ripponden had to travel to
Elland to go to church. The long trek and variable weather led them to request permission from the King to build their own church. They were granted a Royal Charter, and in the 1400s built their church in the valley bottom.
This was consecrated in 1464. todays church is the the third on the site.
