A Disappointment of a Day

Foul weather, the dreaded flat roof has another leak in it, we went out far later than intended and it honked it down. Right in the middle of this downpour in the darkening afternoon light the car broke down and refused to start again. (I did say don't drive through that deep puddle!) after ten minutes we started the car again. Another deep puddle 'mind that pud..........! Phut phut phut '. Another. break down on a tiny lane no wider than the car which I have to say I did say 'don't go down there it's too tight' Eventually restarted the damn thing after hubby continually flooded the engine constantly trying the ignition.. 'It's never done this before' he says in a little surprised voice. Now it is dark and any hope of doing what we had intended evaporated. Call at Grandad's on the way home leaving the engine running and briefly exchanging greetings. Eventually get home and Yan jumps out of the back of the car mildly surprised that she is back home without so much as a sniff at a bush!

The day was eventually salvaged by a very tasty Greek Chicken (cinnamon, cloves, lemon, tomatoes and chicken) cooked by my own self no less! And sated courtesy of Cotes Du Rhone and Eva's (step grandmother)apple pie - to die for. Yan doesn't seem too bothered despite the noisy shooters in 'Homeland' mind you her snoring is louder than the television action.
