juice and joy
- i am dramatically affected by the weather. more so than most people i think, and to very extreme degrees.
- when it's beautiful and sunny out i eat absurd amounts of fruit. i don't eat fruit any other time.
- i took this photo because i really wanted to show off the bright blue sky. i also really like this winter tree contrasted against it.
- i am starting to believe spring will come. 68 degrees today. it wont last. but someday it will.
- i covet my mornings. and wednesday is my absolute favorite day of the week.
- i am starting to get back into routine. and rejoicing in it, like one who learns to love what they need. which, incidentally, is the theme of proverbs (as i see it).
- based upon point two and four, the following poem seemed appropriate:
---
Spring by G.M. Hopkins
Nothing is so beautiful as Spring -
When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush;
Thrush's eggs look little low heavens, and thrush
Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring
The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing;
The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush
The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush
With richness; the racing lambs too have fair their fling.
What is all this juice and all this joy?
A strain of the earth's sweet being in the beginning
In Eden garden. - Have, get, before it cloy,
Before it cloud, Christ, lord, and sour with sinning,
Innocent mind and Mayday in girl and boy,
Most, O maid's child, thy choice and worthy the winning.
