St Johns Wood

I love the interior design of St Johns Wood tube station. The lighting is lovely and many of the fittings are made of bronze which has the most wonderful warm, rich patina.

Online information about the station is scant but I eventually discovered that the station was designed by Stanley Heaps, who was in-house architect for the London transport network in the 1910s to 40s.

The only other interesting thing I managed to find out is that St Johns Wood is the only station name on the London Underground network that doesn't contain a letter from the word "mackerel".
