Opening
A lovely morning spent with Bakewell in Bloom showing Lord Edward Manners around Bakewell and what work has been achieved by the group this year.
We started off at Bakewell CofE school where Lord Edward accompanied by the Head teacher Tricia Outram, officially opened the recently established and very popular garden extension to the school.
For many years this area had been the ugly concrete remnants of a scout hut and was out of bounds to the children but now it's been transformed into a fabulous walled garden with pond, raised beds and a wormery!
This was followed by a visit to the Sensory Gardens to see the newly erected sculpture made by BIB member Corrine and then onto Riverside Crescent to see our recently installed Gritstone Trough Planters.
It was rounded off with a cosy chat by the fire in the Rutland Arms Hotel with warming cups of coffee and rather good mince pies, (nice light pastry!).
