In the famous Timanfiya volcano park - amazing that one eruption lasted from 1730 to 1736, with no recorded deaths as the flow was very slow so the people were able to evacuate. It's said brave (or stupid) kids would build little houses in the path to see them swept away. There was something in the desolate, sharp, jagged earth that touched me.
