Christmas Rose

Bought this Helleborus Niger more commonly referred to as the Christmas Rose, as a gift for a friend who is pretty clueless in the gardening stakes. She'll have to go quite a long way to kill this off but why she'd want to I don't know.
Why I didn't buy 2, one for me as well, is also a puzzle!
