Just a Stone Step
When I was little, about 6 or 7 years old, I was friends with a boy who lived down my street. His mother used to come visit mine, and we'd run around in the backyard and play. His name was Whitney. On 8/20/1999 (when we were both 17), Reeves and one co-defendant shot and killed a 14 year old girl and her 40 year old father with a 12 gauge shotgun. The apparent motive for the shooting was that the girl had testified at a grand jury hearing that resulted in charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child against Whitney.
This photo is of the lot where his house used to be. They tore it down at some point - I don't remember exactly when. I went there more times than I could count, but nowadays all that is left is just the stone steps that used to lead up to the front door.
It's really strange where life takes some people - and heartbreaking how some people take lives.
