Life Uncommon

Softball

A had her first softball practice this evening. She's been nervous about it all week, to the point of having second thoughts about wanting to participate. I've tried to keep it light and enthusiastic - "It'll be fun!" "It's normal to feel nervous about trying something new." And so forth, while also harboring my own worries about whether it really would be fun for her.

As with most things in life, all the worry was for naught. She had a GREAT time, as I think is evident from her expression here! She was seriously bouncing around the field when practice ended, talking about how much she loved it and how she couldn't wait for the next practice. (And wait she'll have to, because tonight was basically just a brief meet-everybody practice and the real routine doesn't start up until post-spring-break.)

She threw, she caught, she hit, she chose her jersey (intentionally sorting through to find the number 13), and she and her teammates suggested team names and then voted on them, deciding between the Thunderbolts and the Fire Ants. (Thunderbolts won out.)
