Western Eye Hospital

Have you ever heard of this place? I hadn't until the day before yesterday. My 83 year old mum was diagnosed with a detached retina this week and my brother, who sells optical instruments, said this was the place to go. He was out of the country on business so my daughter and I took her to the A&E dept of the Western Eye Hospital.

The retina was too detached for laser treatment so she ended up having an operation under local anethetic and an overnight stay. I won't go into details but she was VERY brave. PhotoJENic rallied round and bought overnight gear for her Nana and joined us at the hospital.

Anyway all is well, the operation was a success, and the sight in her eye was restored. The treatment (NHS) she received was excellent and all the staff were fantastic. My mum is home now, happy ending. Thanks to my brother for his knowledge and advice, and thanks to my daughters for their support. And WELL DONE Mum for being so brave!

P.S. If your sight seems 'odd' act quickly, the sooner this condition is diagnosed the better.
