A Day on Hartbeespoort Dam

We were invited to spend the day at the 'Oewerklub', the Afrikaans for 'Club on the Riverbank', next to the Hartbeespoort Dam. In the picture is Piet Gouws, the owner of this boat, his daughter Monique both in blue shirts, and R jnr in red and his lovely A, in brown.

What a lovely day! It is such a beautiful place, lovely green lawns, huge willow trees to supply ample shade as well as beauty, everything is só neat and well kept! It is not a new spot, no new buildings or ablusions, all very old buildings, but it is kept by the elderly as well as the disabled who are in dire need of a job, and they are só proud of their handiwork!! C&R snr decided to pay the annual membership fee and become members as well, it is much needed money to support those in need!!

We had lots of fun when several boat owners, who were in the same group as us, took us for 'joyrides' on the dam! What a pleasure to be able to take close up pictures of all the places I can only see in the fár distance every afternoon when I go on my 'Blipwalk'! ;-)

I think R snr is considering the possibilities of buying a boat, then I can blip shots from all angles and areas!! What a lovely adventure to look forward to!

All the pictures were shot from a boat, I was vérrrry adventurous today, I went for a spin with Piet and my children, and later with two other young couples!! All lovely people whom we only met today! Here are some more pictures of the day if you are interested! ;-)

Piet Gouws invited us for the day, he is the father of one of R snr's First Team Rugby players, Devon, now 12 years of age. Piet has a daughter, Monique, aged 15 as well! This lovely little family experienced a terrible tragedy as well on 31st January this year! Read all about it here!
