Sambo
Early morning trip to the Russian Market for shopping today- the smell is definately raw meat and sun- but we got some bargains.
Then off to Wat Phnom, apparently the original Buddhist Temple of the city and home to Sambo! He has just turned 50 - we are in the same decade so I have a bit of sympathy for him. Jess went to his party last month and he was lucky enough to have balloons and a cake. Every evening he gets taken for a walk along the riverside which I must see before I go home. You are allowed to have a ride on him for a few Riel but Jess said 'no can do - I've got to live in this city' so that was that! Although I hate seeing animals tied up Sambo looks quite content and good for his age! The blip is of him having a good scratch against the tree.
Tonight we treated ourselves with a drink at Raffles, happy hour of course, and we had a Singapore Sling. We last had one of these at the original Raffles in Singapore( so pretentious I know) 5 years ago. Jess was only 14 so I made her have a Virgin Sling, not so this time!
It's 10 at night and a good time to use the computer as it's fairly quiet but I have just been mistaken for the French Proprietress by a fellow countryman even after I spoke French to him. lol!
Off to Jessie's school tomorrow so looking forward to meeting the kids but not sure if I'll be able to take photo's.
