Busy, busy bees: A quick spring clean
Spring is definitely upon us now. And after the vandals kicked off the brood cover, super and roof last week, it was time for a thorough check-up of the hives. All but two of the 16 hives survived, what has been the most protracted and coldest winter since 1962.
With this warmer weather, activity has dramatically increased in the last 10 days, so all the mouse covers have now come off and the bees are busily clearing out the dead (as shown here) and bringing in new pollen supplies.
