David's Blips

Old and new

On my walk to work through the park near West Tullos, I managed to snap some of Aberdeen's buildings and monuments.

The far left, and closest to me is the obelisk in Duthie Park. It stands 70ft high and is made from Peterhead granite, in memory of the military surgeon and director-general of the Army Medical Department, Sir James McGrigor.

The trees in the foreground are also at Duthie Park.

In the middle of the picture, and furthest away is the 3 tower blocks on Cairncry Road in the city. From left to right is Cairncry Court, Rosehill Court and Cornhill Court. All 3 buildings were built in 1967.

The Queens Cross Church is also popping out in the middle of the picture.

The far right, and middle in terms of distance, is Talisman House, the home of Talisman Energy in the UK. It was built at the turn of the millenium and is one of the nicer looking buildings in Aberdeen.
