Behind the big hedge

This afternoon while out on our bike ride, Rob pointed out to me this amazeing thing that looked like a triffid, high above a big Macrocarpa hedge!

I took a pic with my point & shoot, then I spied a gate & beyond that a hole in the hedge! so crept up hoping no big dog was gaurding this thing! to discover it was an enormous Yuka type plant.
