The granite counter tops were installed last week.

I subsequently found out we are responsible for providing the support brackets to keep the granite from collapsing under it's own weight along with 300 pounds of bookbags and dirty soccer cleats.

The kitchen place says the brackets they supply are $275 bucks apiece and must be installled before the granite is applied (oops... already in place)

Michael helped me with use of his bandsaw and my spare time has been occupied with construction of #3 heavy duty oak brackets. they look pretty good and hopefully will keep the kinder from shattering the granite.
