Retro & Classics
My collection of other people's things is small but needs some clearing out.
I found these things inside a plastic storage box.
The 1967 Architectural Digest is from a family I once worked for.
She gave me lots of old items even sold be her 65 Barracuda for $500.00.
Sweet Car!
I made a profit off it and flew to Italy:-)
The 1974 Italian Reader's Digest is something I picked up at a garage sale over 10 years ago. It was good reading while I learned Italian.
The old photo is something given to me by Mom's social worker at dialysis.
She was interested in a painter I once knew and we got to chatting about my love of photography and old photo's. She had a look at the collection of proofs I'd run across while out garage sale hunting and thought I would enjoy the old photo you see here. She had no idea who they are or where it came from.
The collection of photos I had shared with her are by the Gabriel Moulin studio. I'm unsure how the family that sold them attained them but I bought them for 5 bucks. After contacting the Studio I was told that something was stolen (which shocked me) and offered $100.00 for all of them (which offended me) because I was not out to gain money only to know who would have them and why would they sale them at a garage sell. But since I was able to make clear I'm not interested in money the lady that was dealing with me relaxed and only wanted to know where I had purchased them.
I gave her the information and was not contacted again.
It may have been that the gentleman that sold them was a buyer of abandoned storage lots and he gained these items along with others items I bought that same day.
I've posted the watercolor banana plant painted in 1945 by a possible soldier stationed in Guam. And another item is of a B &W still life of jars by a person in a camera club located in Japan Town San Francisco in the 1940's.
It will take a while to discard some of the other not so interesting items but during this spring and summer I think I can get a few items gone:-)
