Market Street and the Jury's Inn

This morning's walk took me through Waverley Station past the new Council building and onto Market Street. It was a dull grey morning and looking up at the Jury's Inn, I was reminded of Martin Parr's book Boring Postcards. Here I was in the middle of a World Heritage Site looking across an empty street at some grey archways and the most boring building in the world. I would take a photograph of it. It would start this week's theme - boring photographs.

Wandering along I started to wonder - having selected the scene as worthy of photographing, could it truly be said to be boring? It can't really be without interest and therefore, can't, by definition, be boring. That left me with a paradox - is it even possible to take a boring photograph and if so, how will I know when I've succeeded?
