tracks of life

love the look

so, home for two days, then left again for johannesburg. this marks 5 continents in the past 3 months - not too bad for a start to the year.

went out to klasserie near kruger reserve for a couple of days of game drives again before the start of the work week. my boss was with, and it's his first time in africa, after over 20 years of travel. needless to say, he was super excited to be here.

on today's evening drive, ran across a pride of lion near the water - bonus to see the cubs at play as well. not the best quality photo, but i like the expression on the one as the other two are playing hide and seek with each other. that's the best tactic as kids, to always have a lookout, in case the adults come by.

the ladies were just around the corner, and were quite comfortable with us watching the cubbies play. of course, after watching them for over an hour, we went for our "sundowner", getting out of the truck for a drink break. we heard grunting shortly thereafter, and decided to end the break a bit early.

after piling into the truck, and rounding the corner, there stood one of the ladies, in a stalking position. what a close call that was!

so great to be out in the bush again, and better yet, away from the phone for a while!
