Snobbery!

You get great light when it snows, and there's low cloud. The street lights bounce off the clouds, and then off the snowy roofs, and everything looks really orange, but bright. I was playing around with the white balance on the camera, and this is what came out. It looks slightly unreal, almost HDR, but there's no fiddling, bar the white balance.

After work, hit the pub with the missus, rxs, White Lightning and the Teacher. I thought the missus and I had finally found the perfect Wednesday night pub (Star Bar), and they all shoot it down cos they're turning into snobs. They all had a go except the missus, of course. Some people are impossible to please. The place ticks so many boxes, and they knock it down for the flimsiest of reasons.

Rxs coplained bitterly (like he does anything else) that they wanted to charge him 50p to use his credit card, and that was his mind made up never to darken their door again. I think a small charge is fair enough for a small business, it costs them every time you swipe. Most places will eat that cost, or hide it by puting the prices up for everyone.

The Teacher moaned that the beer was expensive. Just cos he's not bought a round in about 4 years. Four drinks for less than 12 quid's pretty good for this neck of the woods, certainly in the middle of town. It was probably his Irn Bru that hiked the price of the round up.

Then White Lightning pipes in with "oh, I wouldn't eat here, the kitchen's probably filthy," without a shred of evidence, and rxs agreed. Oh, I say, excuse me, where's the silver cutlery? And the chandeliers in here are simply dreadful.

Rant over. :)

After that we headed over to the Basement Bar for some late grub. Very tasty! Rxs and I tried making desperate Desperados. Not great.
